Session 3: Make up styling

This class was the first time that different types of make-up were considered. In everyday life, I don’t wear very glamorous make-up, but simple make-up that suits the outfit of the day. But in this session, I tried to consider a strong impression of make-up with a catwalk or look shoot in mind.

First, I painted several different kinds of make-up on several images. The use of different materials allowed for a variety of expressions. This make-up session was made to match the three stylings created in Session 2. So I picked up colors and features of each stylings. I used a variety of materials and art materials and tried difficult ways of expression. I was also able to use actual make-up tools, which helped me to build up an image of what it would be like to do the actual make-up.

This image is from work done in this class. I have incorporated elements of multiple make-up drawings into my make-up. This make-up used red as the main color and featured eyeliner. Lip gloss was also incorporated into the eye make-up to express a wet, glossy look.

In SDS tasks, I made changes to my eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara as I did in this session. For the white-based make-up, the use of white made the make-up more impactful.

Thorough this session, I can find that make-up is important to connect with fashion style. Also I have found that having make-up that matches each style makes the fashion more sophisticated.
