Session 10: Advertising pages

In this session, I have now used the photos to create an advertising page. In this creating page, I focused on editing the photos and looking for brands that fit each mood the photo. When analysing the magazines, most of the advertising pages had a simple and strong impression. The brand’s character could be felt from the first impression. So I tried to lay out and edit the brand in such a way that the reader could imagine what the brand would look like from the first impression.

First, I came up with the brand’s image colors and then edited the images to match them. I used photos taken with a film camera as they were, to express a vintage feel. I also expressed a strong digital feel (like old TV screen).

Throughout the analysis of the magazines, photographs of people as subjects were used more often in advertising page. Basically, I created the pages using the photographs of the subjects, but I also tried to use photographs of non-human subjects.

This work used photographs of mannequins taken in styling classes. Acne Studios also dose various artworks for Acne Paper. So this time, instead of focusing solely on fashion elements, I aimed to create a photographic artwork. Photographs of objects were selected and edited to match the colors of the styling. The brand’s logo was also used page in a large size to strengthen the brand’s impact.

Through this session, it is most important that creating a strong impression on first sight in advertising page. Also I think it was also important to choose colors that matched the brand’s image.
